The complaint presented to the internal organs of the Parliament of Catalonia by Junts per Catalunya deputy Cristina Casol, who is part of the circle closest to the president of the party, Laura Borràs, has been dismissed.

The equality office of the Catalan Chamber and the external company that has addressed the case with independent experts consider that “the reported facts do not appear” and that, therefore, no action is appropriate. The secretary general of the institution, Albert Capelleras, communicated this to the members of the Parliament’s Board at the meeting this Tuesday.

In fact, the lawyer made the comment after the case hit the media a few days ago and taking into account that it was already a public matter. If the protocol had been complied with, the complaint would not have emerged if there were no sanctions and the entire process would have been confidential. In any case, the parliamentary sources who have reported this have not clarified the deadlines for the procedure, although the complaint was filed in November.

JxCat sources attributed this complaint to “political disagreement” from the beginning, as well as the one made publicly at the end of November from the lectern of the chamber, during an event on the occasion of 25-N, by deputy Aurora Madaula, vice president. of the party and second secretary of the Board, who is still on leave and is also close to Borràs.

In fact, after that episode, the president of the Parliament, Anna Erra, informed Madaula that she had lost confidence in her for the Board and asked her to take a step back to have a member of her party on the governing body of the institution. confidence, just as Borràs was able to do during her time as president. Madaula, however, did not accept at that time to leave her position and if she does not resign there is no procedure for her replacement.

Madaula was pending to present a letter to the JxCat guarantees commission about the complaint of “silent violence” that he made against his “comrades” in the parliamentary group, an accusation that, on the other hand, 22 deputies denied in a letter. At first, the vice president of the post-convergent formation was given ten days to argue and then she was given another seven, as she was on leave, but Madaula, in the end, refused to present said document and expressed her distrust of the guarantee body. , so he plans to resort to other means to channel his complaint, according to sources consulted. In any case, that matter has been put on hold and the leader has avoided making public statements since the controversy emerged.

Be that as it may, the general secretary of the party, Jordi Turull, last week clearly denied in a public interview that there was discrimination in Junts based on gender and in the most pragmatic wing of the party there is a lot of discomfort with this whole situation and some complaints that they consider a political maneuver to wear down the management.

For this reason, at the meeting of the national council that was held last Saturday in El Morell (Tarragonès) there was a leader who, when speaking, asked that Madaula resign, but everything stayed there and there was nothing more, although it was had considered the possibility of registering a resolution to express the discomfort. What there were were comments of support for Erra.
