“Four and a half million citizens thank society for having helped us ensure that the Spanish Constitution stops considering us “disabled” and treats us as you do, as people, as people with disabilities.”
This Thursday, the ONCE Social Group celebrated the agreement reached in the Congress of Deputies to reform article 49 of the Magna Carta, as stated in a statement.
“The disability unity under the Cermi platform has achieved a change and a consensus that is not a consequence of political, economic or ideological reasons; it is born from the spirit of the citizens that has promoted the first social reform of the Constitution,” they say.
ONCE has been trying to build “an image of people with disabilities from equality, a focus on citizenship rights, and respect” for more than 85 years. “Congratulations, may the consensus continue and let us continue working together to build better societies,” they add.
