Last weekend Bilbao was a clamor for the release of ETA prisoners. The Konponbiderako Giltzak (Keys to Resolution) demonstration, led by the Sare political party, brought out 20,000 people through the streets of the Basque capital, including the actress Itziar Ituño. However, her presence at the event has cost her two advertising collaborations, with a BMW and Iberia dealer, in addition to criticism such as the one Kiko Matamoros dedicated to her.

In view of the panorama, a group of personalities from the world of cinema and theater published a statement to support the Basauri actress. One of the many people who have also sent her encouragement, sharing said writing, has been her partner in La casa de Papel, Alba Flores. “There are many of us who support Itziar,” wrote the Nairobi interpreter, republishing the article from the newspaper Público where the statement appeared.

“Our colleague Itziar Ituño is suffering – again – a furious and violent personal attack from the media that has then jumped – even more furious and violent – ??to social networks. The attack today is – again, we insist – directed at her but, also, at all the people of art and culture who freely decide to exercise their right to participate in public debate and political demonstrations,” the group expressed.

“Of course, these demonstrations are subject to criticism by anyone who wishes to do so, but legitimate criticism is one thing and choosing one of the tens of thousands of people who attended the same demonstration to carry out the protest is another. a public lynching against the easiest target that, in addition to being deeply reactionary, is very dangerous not only for the physical and moral integrity of Ituño, but for the entire society,” the statement continued.

“We are witnessing an ultra-reactionary offensive that seeks to censor theater shows, film screenings, book presentations, concerts, exhibitions or children’s shows that do not obey their narrow and violent vision of the world. In many cases, they are succeeding. We can’t allow it. Witch hunts are perhaps the most cowardly expression exercised by those who want to impose silence on us by shouting.”, they denounced.

“As always, the campaign aims to make the public see that our colleague Itziar Ituño is alone. Is not true. If she still doesn’t know that she isn’t, these lines of support and solidarity serve to remind her,” the note concluded. One of the many displays of support that have appeared alongside that of Alba Flores, after the criticism and messages of hate that have spread through different platforms.
