The Ateneo José Román de Algeciras has agreed to award the 2023 José Luis Tobalina Prize for journalistic articles to lawyer, poet and articulist Ignacio Díaz Galán for this article published on September 23 in La Vanguardia.

The jury headed by Juan Emilio Ríos, president of the Ateneo de Algeciras, and Alejandro Tobalina, spokesperson for the Tobalina Cuerda family, have agreed to recognize this award for Díaz Galán for writing “a forceful plea for reading and an accurate and poetic ode to the book.”

Ignacio Díaz Galán was born in Madrid in May 1983, residing in Estepona from the following year. He has a Law degree from the University of Malaga since 2008 and currently practices as a lawyer. He has written poems, short stories, essays and philosophical works.
