The young athlete Alba Cebrián Chiva died this Monday at just 23 years of age in the ICU of the La Plana hospital in Villarreal, after suffering a cardiac arrest last Thursday while she was training on the Vall d’Uxo athletics track.
Cebrián, born in the small town of Les Alqueries (Castellón), had been defending the colors of the Celtíberas de Soria athletics club for three years, where she competed in the disciplines of 3,000 meter hurdles and 1,500 meter events.
It was Celtíberas de Soria itself who, on social networks, communicated the sad news: “All of us who are part of the Celtíberas de Soria Athletics Club are devastated to have to announce the death of our colleague Alba Cebrián Chiva. We join his entire family in these painful moments. We will always remember you Alba.”
On Thursday, the young woman was doing some series on the Vall d’Uxo athletics tracks when she suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest. Quickly, a doctor who was nearby performed a cardiac massage until the ambulance arrived.
The resuscitation efforts managed to reverse the stoppage, transferring the young athlete to the La Plana hospital where she remained hospitalized for the last few days until her fatal outcome.
