Rafael Amargo has made the news again. The dancer is currently in the Soto del Real prison awaiting trial for an alleged drug trafficking crime. Justice ordered his imprisonment last November due to his “repeated breach” of his precautionary measures, since he had the obligation to sign in court for an alleged crime against public health.

Furthermore, the high risk of escape was another of the triggers that caused the authorities to order his entry into prison, despite the continuous attempts of his team of lawyers to obtain provisional release. Since then, the artist has remained in jail awaiting trial, which will take place next April. It will not be a simple litigation, since Rafael Amargo faces a sentence of nine years in prison.

Weeks after his entry into prison, people close to the dancer declared that he had adapted very well to life in the penitentiary center and that he had even made friends with other inmates. But the situation changed overnight at the beginning of 2024. The Telecinco program presented by Emma García exclusively revealed that the dancer had decided to go on a hunger strike.

As confirmed by his lawyer, Ana Isabel Peña, the artist’s situation was complicated since “he had hit rock bottom” and “he was totally emaciated.” Furthermore, in these more than ten days that he had not eaten any type of food, the dancer had lost 10 kilos and had been infected with Covid.

Now, almost twenty days after his hunger strike, his wife, Luciana Bongianino, revealed to Pronto magazine that the artist’s situation was quite critical, which is why he had abandoned the hunger strike. ”He had to abandon her for health reasons. In ten days he lost 10 kilos and contracted Covid, so it was recommended that he stop fasting. “He has us all very worried,” she said.

Furthermore, Luciana Bongianino revealed that her husband’s team of lawyers was preparing new documents to present before the Provincial Court of Madrid with the aim of obtaining provisional freedom and thus await the trial abroad.
