SEK Education Group, founded in 1892, brings together leadership, pedagogical innovation and 130 years of tradition and history. More than 7,000 students of 80 nationalities are part of SEK International Schools in its ten centers in Spain (one in Barcelona), Ireland, France, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

SEK International School Catalunya is located in La Garriga, in the Vallès Oriental region, just 30 minutes from Barcelona. It is the only school in Catalonia accredited to offer the continuum of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) programs, between 3 and 18 years: the Primary Years Program (PYP), the Middle Years Program (MYP). ) and the Diploma Program (DP).

Its students achieve excellent results every year, which facilitates their access to the most prestigious universities in the world. In the last promotion, the average grade of International Baccalaureate Diploma Program students was 33 points, almost three above the world average (30.24).

SEK-Catalunya is a member of The New England Association of Schools (NEASC), which makes it easier to enter American universities and obtain the American High School Diploma. The percentage of the curriculum taught in English varies depending on the educational stage, but it is the school’s primary language, and is always greater than 60% (the Diploma Program can be taken bilingually). Students learn Catalan and Spanish, with the option of acquiring a fourth language (French or German), starting in fifth grade.

With an area of 100,000 square meters, SEK-Catalunya has spaces dedicated to sports, such as an artificial grass soccer field, paddle tennis courts, a heated indoor pool and a sports center with a multipurpose court. It also has the SEK International Sport Academy program, innovative and unique in Spain, which offers support to young athletes to successfully combine their studies with the practice of high-performance sports.

The technological curriculum has great weight in SEK-Catalunya, as well as the creative arts. Students learn through real-world experiences with robotics, drones, 3D printing, or Arduino programming. Its School of Music is linked to Trinity College of London and its Drama program has made it a member of the International Schools Theater Association (ISTA).

The school offers its own educational model, SEK Future Learning Model, within the curricular framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program that is taught at all educational stages and whose pillars are:

• Develop the maximum potential of each student through a personalized and comprehensive education, which respects the student as an individual and takes into account all dimensions of the person. Supports students through tutoring and a learning support department. SEK-Catalunya has a professional and university guidance department, both nationally and internationally.

• Teach in an active way, promoting learning through experience and inquiry, learning by doing, awakening curiosity, creativity and, at the same time, passion for what students do.

• Help the student to be autonomous, confident and capable of learning independently throughout life.

• Seek excellence. The SEK-Catalunya competency model pursues a transformative education that seeks personal growth and positive impact on society and the planet. This model focuses on the comprehensive development of our students and promotes the development of skills and attitudes that will allow students to face the challenges of this century to contribute to creating a better world.

• Help cultivate the values and behaviors that will make the student grow as a person, know how to live with others, take care of their well-being and physical and emotional balance, increase awareness of universal solidarity and seek sustainability.

• Promote an international mentality, open to the world, to the diversity of cultures and to new ideas. SEK-Catalunya offers a bilingual and international education, with students of 47 nationalities through the International Baccalaureate Program, in addition to the opportunity to participate in exchanges, MUNs models, Debate Leagues, ERASMUS and stays in SEK-Les Alpes and SEK- Dublin. All of this – knowing, knowing how to do and knowing how to be – allows students to have a positive impact on society and the environment.
