Rafa Nadal’s return to the tennis courts seems close. The Mallorcan tennis player appears as one of those signed up for the ATP250 in Doha, which will be held from February 19 to 24 in the capital of Qatar.
The official channel of the ATP, Tennis TV, has assumed his comeback in the desert in a tweet, which reads “Nadal will return in Doha” and which has confirmed the good progress of his recovery.
Nadal felt pain during his match against Australian Jordan Thompson in the quarterfinals of the Brisbane tournament and it was later confirmed that he was suffering from an injury to the iliopsoas in his left leg.
These muscle problems forced him to withdraw from the Australian Open, which is being held these days at Melbourne Park with Novak Djokovic as the first semi-finalist, and no date was set for his reappearance.
The Manacor tennis player’s intention was always to try to arrive in the best physical condition possible for the clay court tour, with Roland Garros as his main objective. His appearance as registered in Doha confirms that even though the injury has delayed his work plan, the goal is still within his reach.
It should be remembered that Nadal has agreed to an exhibition match with Carlos Alcaraz on March 3 in Las Vegas, a duel that will be broadcast on Netflix.
