A little over a week has passed since the proclamation of Frederick X as the new king of Denmark and the information and rumors have not stopped. The son of Margarita II has never been as present in the international press as in recent months since the scandal caused by the photographs of him walking with Genoveva Casanova through the streets of Madrid.
Although a possible relationship between them has been flatly denied since then, everything has ended, causally or not, in the abdication of the former queen of the Nordic country for 52 years. Now, the first decisions of her and María de Denmark’s son are generating a stir in the national press.
The issue of money has been very present in the new kings of Denmark since they ascended the throne. The Danish Government itself announced an increase in the budget allocation allocated to the Royal House, thus increasing the land of the monarch and active family members.
An increase that will be evident starting in February with the officialization of the Finance Law and that would be due to the amount of money that Federico and María generate to the public coffers each year, according to The Copenhagen Post. Now a future million-dollar reform has come to light that has not left anyone indifferent.
And the property of the new kings of Denmark that will undergo numerous changes in these months is Fredensborg Palace, on the island of Zealand. This luxurious space is the summer residence of Frederick of Denmark and Mary Donaldson, and they are ready to change it completely.
With 30 rooms, various lounges, libraries, numerous bathrooms, horse riding arenas… the comprehensive renovation that is going to be carried out has already generated some controversy in the Nordic country’s press. “They have paid millions to modernize them,” Ekstra Bladet has published, referring to the bathrooms where “they now bathe in luxury.”
Although this news has broken, it is not known exactly when the reform will begin and end. Something that could be extended considerably, taking into account that it is an 18th century palace and that surprises can arise at any time. The renovation of Amalienborg Palace, the one most used by the family, took up to five years.
Fredensborg has been very present in the international press due to the royal hunts that take place every year in the area. At the same time, it is also the place chosen for some state visits. So much so, that Felipe and Letizia traveled to the aforementioned palace last November to meet with the former queen, Margarita II.
