On the night of Sunday, March 10, the 96th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Yesterday the list of nominees for these awards was officially published, thus giving rise to endless comments on social networks.

While some filmmakers and actors celebrated their possibilities (Juan Antonio Bayona was happy and pleased with the two nominations for The Snow Society), others cried out for the academics’ decision. This is the case of actor Ryan Gosling, who is nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his appearance in Barbie.

Although he should be happy and content with his nomination, the Hollywood actor has released a statement expressing that, although he is very grateful for the recognition of his work, he feels very sad that Greta Gerwig (director of the film) and Margott Robbie (star of the film) was left off the list of nominees after releasing such a powerful and necessary film.

”There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people responsible for this historic and globally celebrated film. To say that I am disappointed that they are not nominated would be an understatement,” the actor wrote in the text that has gone viral on the Internet.

”Against all odds, with nothing more than a pair of soulless dolls, with little clothing and fortunately no crotch, they made us laugh, broke our hearts, propelled culture and made history. “His work must be recognized along with that of other very deserving nominees,” the United States artist stated bluntly in the writing that has moved millions of people around the globe.

America Ferrera was another Oscar nominee for Best Supporting Actress for Barbie, something that Gosling does not miss in his statement: ”I am very happy for America Ferrera and for the other artists who have contributed with their talent to making this one such an innovative film.

In addition to the two aforementioned nominations, Gerwig’s film aspires to other awards: Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Song for I’m Just Ken (Ryan Golsing) and What Was I Made For? (Billie Eilish).
