The umpteenth copper theft has once again affected the railway service in Catalonia. The last episode of this problem occurred this Wednesday. On this occasion, the Llobregat – Anoia line of the Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) Railways has been the service that has been altered.

As reported by ACN, the copper theft occurred between Olesa de Montserrat and Aéreo de Montserrat. FGC sources have reported that the R5 and R50 trains run at a frequency of one convoy every hour between Olesa and the Manresa Baixador station.

On the other hand, these same FGC sources have indicated, the connection between Olesa and Plaza Espanya is being carried out normally. Early this Wednesday, FGC was working to resolve the incident as soon as possible.

As La Vanguardia reported last month, the price of copper on the black market has skyrocketed and, in turn, so have the thefts of this material. The situation affects the railway service in Catalonia, every two days in the case of Rodalies, where important works are being carried out that leave the material more exposed to thieves.
