The cancellation of the wedding of bullfighter Juan Ortega and Carmen Otte has become one of the most talked about topics in recent months. On December 2, when the guests were in Jerez de la Frontera getting ready for the wedding, the bullfighter changed his mind and decided not to marry the woman who had been his girlfriend for more than a decade.
The news left the right-hander’s friends and loved ones speechless, since the couple had long dreamed of starting a family and there was no history of any type of serious problem in the relationship.
Since the news broke, the gossip press has been incessantly searching for the bullfighter to try to understand his action. For their part, the bride’s family has had to endure unprecedented media pressure. However, the two protagonists of this story have remained in the most absolute silence until a few hours ago, at which time the Sevillian decided to give an interview and visit the Herrera program on COPE.
The young man shared that backing out was not a decision of the moment, but that he had doubts that he was not able to resolve. ”I apologize, not for the decision, but for the moment in which I made it,” he said.
For Ortega it was very painful to have to convey his decision to the woman with whom he shared more than ten years of his life, but he confirmed this morning that he does not regret not having gone through the altar: ”I did not want to betray Carmen or betray myself. to myself”.
He also addressed the topic of guests in the space presented by Carlos Herrera. ”Go figure. There were many guests, many people who had come from outside. But hey, in the end it’s people who love you, people who care for us, who appreciate us… In the end people suffer from it too, but it’s still a disorder. There are anecdotes about everything: people who left, people who stayed, people who enjoyed the weekend, people who suffered it…” stated Ortega.
Carlos Herrera took the opportunity to ask the ‘teacher’ if he would again have some type of sentimental or romantic relationship with the young woman whom he stood up on their wedding day, a question to which Ortega answered in a sad tone.
”I can’t answer that question Carlos. “What I know is that I love Carmen very much and that for nothing in the world she would forgive me for hurting her again,” said the visibly affected bullfighter.
