Susanna Griso went from interviewer to interviewee, being the new guest of journalist Pilar Vidal on her podcast, Drama Queen. The Espejo Público presenter sat down with her partner and friend to talk about her professional career, but she also openly revealed some details about her personal life.
The journalist has had a discreet romance for just over six months with businessman Íñigo Afán de Ribera, whom she met after her divorce from Carles Torras, with whom she was married for 23 years.
The presenter has lived a few years in which she has dedicated herself to that, to “living.” In these three years, she recognizes that she has “got even a little bit” after two decades of marriage. “I don’t want to commit, I don’t want to be with anyone, I want to live life. In the end I end up getting involved, I’m not one of ‘I’ll catch you here, I’ll kill you here’. Incapable.”
Some unpublished revelations, which continued with his preferences when looking for a partner. “I don’t know what I’m looking for in a man. Every age has different experiences,” the presenter was honest. “Now that I have my life very much together, what I’m looking for is to live a certain adventure. Make up for lost time. Go out, travel, meet different people… Being with someone very different from me seems very attractive to me.”
The presenter acknowledged that she was looking for a “polar opposite”, someone who had practically not seen her on television or whose world was totally different from hers. Those who follow her just for appearing on television do not deserve attention from her.
It seems that Afán de Ribera could have been that person, just as he talks about him. “I have found my Indiana Jones. He is very adventurous, he has traveled the world for many years and is very disconnected from everything. He has a relative interest in what I do, he has his own world of his own,” he confessed. “I like that, it amuses me. Anything that takes me away from what I am the center of is wonderful.”
The presenter divorced television producer Carles Torras after 27 years together in December 2020. Semana magazine published it on its cover just before Christmas Day, which took the journalist and her family by surprise. The couple are parents of three children: Jan (21), Mireia (16) and Dorcette, the little Ivorian girl they adopted in 2018.
“You never know how to say it. What scared me most was that they would find out through the media,” recalls the journalist. “Still, it was on the front page on December 24. It was very hard.” Despite the circumstances, they moved forward.
“When you separate, it is because you need to get some oxygen, rediscover yourself and recover a little. Our children have been able to enjoy us individually, it has been enriching.”
