Eight new trains will run from February 5 on the Manresa railway line (R12) between Lleida and Cervera, four in each direction. Now there are six who do this route, three going and three returning.
This section, with seven expeditions in each direction, four more than the current ones, changes its name and will be called RL3, and the R12 trains that follow the route to Barcelona will continue to offer the current three expeditions in each direction.
The Secretary of Mobility and Infrastructure of the Generalitat, Marc Sanglas, announced the date this Friday in the Rodalies commission of Lleida in which he said that it is an action highly demanded by the territory: “Today is an important day for the regions of Lleida”
“We are working in two phases, in a first, the creation of the RL3, Lleida Cervera, which would go from six to ten frequencies that complement the services of the R12 and, later, the launch of the Lleida Manresa, will allow us to increase more frequencies”, stated Marc Sanglas. If the forecasts are met, the Generalitat will launch that line, RL4, in the middle of this year.
According to the Department of Territory, after the meeting in Madrid on September 13, Renfe agreed to double the train services between Lleida and Cervera “and the agreement for the comprehensive transfer of Rodalies specified that the cost, of about 2.5 million “Euros per year in this first phase will be paid by the State.” “In this way,” the Ministry notes, “the agreements reached between the Minister of Territory, Ester Capella, and the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, first, and the current minister, Óscar Puente, later are fulfilled.”
The new circulations will be coordinated with the start of work and school activities, with arrivals in both cities before nine in the morning. “To do this, Renfe will have to expand the workforce with a dozen professionals, six of whom will be train drivers,” said the general director of Transports i Mobilitat, Oriol Martori.
The commission was held in the Diputación de Lleida. Its president, Joan Talarn, has declared to the media that he has finally achieved what the mayors and mayoresses demanded in the Neighborhood Commission.
“The effort made by everyone, since the first meetings began in 2019, has made it possible for us to announce the frequencies and the day they will begin today,” he assured.
The monitoring commission was also attended by the delegate of the Government of the Generalitat to Lleida, Montse Bergés, representatives of city councils, trade union organizations and the Chamber of Commerce.
