Despite complicated situations, if something characterizes Manu Sánchez, it is that he never loses his smile. The comedian, 38 years old, was the main protagonist this Friday of El show de Bertín, Bertín Osborne’s program on Canal Sur TV. The episode left a large number of moments to remember, and it was an interview as hard and heartbreaking as it was emotional, in which Sánchez revealed some anecdotes that left many surprised.
Manu recalled the hard blow that it was for him to learn that he had testicular cancer with metastasis to the lymph nodes. The comedian was diagnosed in April 2023, and in the interview with Osborne he detailed how he has lived through this complicated year. It should be remembered that he was diagnosed just two days before the arrival of his second daughter, Leonor, into the world. A moment that should have been the happiest and that was clouded by fear.
“I have received a lot of love, it has surpassed me. It has been spectacular and I appreciate that because it helps a lot,” Manu began by saying, continuing to assure that “after falling into bed as if you were thrown out of a helicopter after undergoing surgery in 17 places “A little message of love is very appreciated.” The comedian narrated how he began the entire diagnosis process during his talk with Bertín.
“My back hurt so much that I couldn’t lie down and I slept sitting in a chair. They tested me for everything except the one we didn’t want to do from the beginning and my doctor, who is my friend, told me ‘let’s see if we’re not doing the proves that we are so scared and we should have done it from the beginning,” he began by explaining. “Back pain has saved my life. The problem was not the testicle, but the metastasis in the lymph nodes and it affected a nerve in the lower back, hence the pain that was the whistleblower,” he expressed.
The comedian also explained that he went to the notary at the time because “I have come to assume that I was leaving. It is hard and complicated. I have said goodbye to my children at home before entering the operating room.” “Manuel has just turned five years old and he would remember something about me, but my little Leonor is smaller and my Lorena I hope she will rebuild her life. I assumed all this,” he expressed, moving all the spectators and Bertín himself. .
Furthermore, he said that is what his son told him when he explained to him that dad was sick. “We told the boy that the doctors were curing me. And the boy asked me and I answered him… But he asked me one day something that every time I remember I cry,” expressed Manu. “He told me ‘Dad, what have you done to be sick?’ Because he’s used to us telling him not to do things so he doesn’t catch a cold or get sick. I asked the doctor if this is because of something I’ve done or if it’s hereditary, and she told me that mine was bad luck. ‘Honey, Dad “He hasn’t done anything, he has touched us and we have to heal,” I told him,” he continued explaining.
On the other hand, Manu reflected on cancer and its recovery. “When someone dies of cancer it is difficult to hide it and we find out who died from this. But those of us who are healing have to tell it because we get out of this and we are cured. And I have realized it because people come up to me who have The cancer has passed and they have been cured. Those who are listening to us should know that we are cured of this,” he stated, explaining that his desire to defeat it gave him strength.
