This morning, Ertzaintza agents arrested a man who was trying to rob a home in the Galtzaborda neighborhood, in Errenteria, according to El Diario Vasco. The thief, who was surprised in the bathroom of the house by the owner, fled and was finally arrested by the agents while he hid behind some bushes.

A call at 2:50 in the morning would set off the alarms after the owner’s notice that he discovered the detainee by surprise thanks to having heard some noises that managed to wake him up coming from inside his home.

The young assailant, 21 years old and with multiple police records behind him, was carrying a backpack and a flashlight at that moment. Hours later, during the search for the fugitive, that same backpack and flashlight would be key to identifying the thief behind some hedges and proceeding to arrest him.

The detainee has been transferred to the Ertzaintza offices to carry out the corresponding procedures which, once completed, will proceed to bring the subject to judicial custody in the next few hours.
