The athlete Antonio Serrano died this Sunday after participating in the Castelló Half Marathon after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest, as announced by the organization.
Antonio Serrano belonged to the Atletisme Abrera Club of Barcelona and was 50 years old. According to the organization, at the end of the test he would have found himself unwell in the hotel in the city of Castellón where he was staying.
“Antonio, after arriving at the hotel and showering, has suffered cardiorespiratory failure that he has not been able to overcome despite the efforts made by the SAMUR health services,” the organization detailed in a statement.
“From the organization of the 39th Castellón Half Marathon we deeply regret the death of Antonio Serrano de la Torre of the Atletisme Abrera Club participating in the race this morning and we offer our most sincere condolences to the family, friends and club colleagues.”
