Barcelona is once again the city of light. From February 2 to 4, it will host a new edition of LlumBCN, a festival of light arts organized by the Barcelona Institute of Culture of the Barcelona City Council, which brings together interventions by creators who cover various fields of visual arts, from contemporary art to design and architecture, through technology and lighting design.

LlumBCN has already become, due to the success of participation and its international repercussions, part of the city’s festive calendar every February.

For three days from February 2 to 4, the Poblenou neighborhood and the surroundings of Plaza de las Glòries become the epicenter of the city’s cultural activity. The festival turns that part of the city into a large open-air museum where the works of art are not sculptures or paintings, but works made with photons that interact with the public space.

In the last edition, more than 220,000 people enjoyed the impressive lighting installations created by internationally renowned artists. And also the innovative proposals of the main local architecture and design schools. In fact, the Yamaha brand, the main sponsor of LlumBCN 2024, has given the opportunity to students from the city’s main design and architecture schools to be part of the event by designing a lighting installation for the brand.

Thus, students from seventeen design schools in the city were invited to design one of the festival installations. A practical and exciting way to test the abilities and creativity of future artists. A few weeks ago they participated in a preparatory workshop where they received details and knowledge to apply the assignment. From there, an ideas contest was opened in which the young participants had to present their projects, in groups of a maximum of five people. Everyone had to add a Yamaha electric motorcycle to the set, as well as a unit of a new electric bicycle model.

A jury made up of the company and representatives of LlumBCN then chose the project that will become a reality and that can be seen within the framework of the festival. The five members of the winning team will design the Yamaha Light Meeting Point at LlumBCN 24 and will enjoy a day of activities linked to the most recreational part of the sponsoring company’s products.

It is a firm commitment of the LlumBCN festival and Yamaha for the young creative talent of the city, to offer young students the possibility of designing a real lighting structure, trusting in their talent. They will thus obtain a first experience that they will be able to record in their future CVs to gain easier access to the world of creation in the future.

Promote creativity, focus on design and sustainability, and shine a light on mobility in cities. This is what Yamaha is looking for by supporting a festival like LlumBCN 2024 and it is what it has also applied in its urban electric vehicles designed to circulate in cities like Barcelona.

For example, the Neos model stands out, the new generation Yamaha scooter. It features a lithium-ion battery and a hub-mounted electric motor that provides strong, controllable acceleration, but with zero emissions and an extremely quiet, comfortable, agile and easy ride.

For those who prefer an e-bike, Yamaha has launched the new eBike Booster Easy, which offers absolute freedom to move around your city and surrounding areas. With the ultra-smooth Yamaha drive unit, a robust frame and thick tires, this fun and modern eBike is designed to move with ease over uneven surfaces and is one of the smartest and most efficient personal mobility solutions available.
