The Association of Forest Owners of the Alt Empordà (APFAE) will appear in the two administrative disputes presented by the City Council of La Jonquera (Alt Empordà) against the wind farms that are projected in La Albera.

The member of the board of the entity, Quim Bach, announced it this Wednesday in an event that took place in the hermitage of Santa Llúcia de La Jonquera.

Bach has also announced that they are studying whether to ask the Generalitat for criminal responsibility for having issued favorable reports that have allowed the processing of the parks to be unblocked, despite the opposition of the territory. APFAE is also working to ensure that Albera becomes a natural park and is protected against new wind projects.

“It is unthinkable for an industry to be installed in the middle of the Albera, but on the other hand it is not with a wind farm,” added Quim Bach. Furthermore, the forest owners association insists that the park “will not benefit the people of Albera.” However, from the APFAE they remember that they are not against clean energy, but rather against the “pure and simple speculation” that a wind farm in a forest area implies.

Bach recalls that there are industrial lands “that are compatible with the uses” of wind plants. The reason why they are not developed is because “they cost between 100 and 1,000 times more than renting forest land.”

The members of the association remember that the owners receive about 3,000 euros for allowing a wind turbine to be installed on their plot. Quim Bach assures that the majority of projects are companies that are dedicated “to investing their capital where they are most profitable.” That is why he frames the Albera parks as projects of financial speculation.
