Between screens, speakers and lighting systems, drones have made their way as another element of the audiovisual sector. An example is the show that took place on Maria Cristina Avenue in Barcelona at the end of the year or during the Mercè festivities in Barceloneta, to name two recent cases.

That is why the landing of the drones at the ISE is not surprising, with its own space and a stage of almost 700 square meters. If something characterizes the organization of the main exhibition in the audiovisual sector, it is that it likes to have everything very organized and sectored. Each element with minimal importance has its particular area in the pavilions of the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona in l’Hospitalet.

“Drones are already another part of the entertainment industry,” says Gerald Schütze, from the German company Lang, who has been commissioned by the organization to set up the Drone Arena, a space where they take place all day long. drone exhibitions accompanied by the corresponding explanations from those responsible.

The management of the area is also carried out by the Catalan company Flock, specialized in carrying out drone shows such as the one at La Mercè. “The ISE is the place where all companies in the sector should be, we will not sell specific services here but we make many contacts and expand the range of possibilities by exchanging knowledge with companies that do similar things,” says Fran Arnau, CEO of the company.

Now they prepare shows designed for indoors with devices moving around a pianist or dancing with a dance company. At ISE they present the technology and at Mobile there are already large multinationals that have hired their services to surprise attendees at their private events.

Drones adapted for indoor use have a long way to go with these clients. With fewer devices you can achieve a very successful show. It is one of the areas that is most on the rise. Companies with large budgets that want to show off their technological chest with their own show or even people with money who hire their own show to celebrate a special birthday. However, the bulk of hiring still corresponds to the town hall festivals that seek to give a twist to the classic fireworks show, either out of ecological or environmental awareness or simply to do something more innovative.

The entire space of the ISE Drone Arena may seem very large, but it is too small for the large exhibitions of illuminated nighttime drones. Yesterday it was the turn of the IFO model, a choreographic swarm drone from the UVify company specialized in large night light shows.

His videos flood the internet with very spectacular original creations. UVify’s general director of operations, Robert Cheek, explained the characteristics of his model, which he noted has made more productions in the world than any other combined, more than 10,000 flights. Although large-format choral exhibitions like those at IFO, designed for massive events, do not have enough space within the space of the Drone Arena in pavilion 6 of the Fira – separated from the rest of the facilities by a network to avoid accidents –, they do You can see examples designed for interiors that give you an idea of ??the potential.

Several companies are demonstrating their flying devices at the Drone Arena, which has sparked interest and has been widely accepted by the public. At the facility you can also fly a drone on an obstacle course and, with a little luck, win one in a raffle.
