The National Police have arrested a man in Palma who possessed almost 10,000 photographs and videos of pedophile content for possession and distribution of pornography.

The Higher Headquarters reported this Saturday in a press release that the arrested person, of Spanish nationality and middle age, is also accused of the crime of corruption of minors.

The arrest culminates an operation against the distribution of child pornography called Operation PENEV that has been carried out by the Technological Crimes and Economic Crime Group of the National Police in Palma with the support of the Central Cybercrime Unit and Child Protection Group I. Minor of the General Police Station of Madrid.

The researchers analyzed P2P direct file sharing networks, commonly used for trafficking pedophile material, for the movement of images of child sexual abuse.

Thus, they located and identified a user based in Palma who was found to have in his possession and distribute around 10,000 photo and video files containing pedophile content.

Once judicial authorization was obtained, a long search was carried out at his home in which four laptop computers, a dozen hard drives, six USB storage devices, more than a hundred CDs and a desktop computer were seized. after-dinner

Although he had deleted many of the files, investigators have been able to verify that he had 9,241 in his possession, 3,187 of them with sentences considered serious and 2,402 with sadomasochistic images with children.

This is the highest number of files in the possession of a user in the interventions against this type of criminal activity carried out by the specialized unit in the Balearic Islands.
