Two people have been arrested in Almería for their connection to the fake Brad Pitt scam, a deception in which a woman from Granada transferred 170,000 euros to different accounts with the belief that she was in a relationship with the actor.

The Court of Instruction 4 of Granada has released the two detainees with charges for this cause, which dates back to the beginning of 2022, when the complainant was contacted through the social network Facebook by a type of fan club of the actor. and, from then on, a series of interactions continued over time that would supposedly lead her to communicate directly with Brad Pitt himself.

This profile, impersonating the actor, gained the trust of the victim, to whom he sent messages and photographs, and from whom he defrauded 170,000 euros under false pretexts that the woman from Grenadine transferred to different bank accounts.

As detailed to EFE by his lawyer, Antonio Estella Aroza, from the Esya Legal firm, the investigation of the case and the work of the Judicial Police who have examined messages, calls, IP addresses and the destination of the money, have served to arrest in Almería to two people.

The arrest of the two men has been accompanied by the search of their homes, the tracking of their communications and the tapping of their phones.

Although the two detainees have been released with charges, the court in charge of the case has blocked several accounts with money, which gives hope to the victim of recovering part of the defrauded amount.

Estella Aroza has stressed that the investigation of the case is still in a very premature phase and has considered that the two detainees in Almería would be part of the structure of a larger network, in which their role would be to receive and move the money, although she has doubted that they were in charge of the conversations with the victim.

The events are being investigated as an alleged aggravated fraud and the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard continues working on the issue.

After formalizing the complaint and making the case public, numerous people with similar causes who could even be linked to this plot have contacted the victim’s lawyer.

For now, the investigating court has decreed the secrecy of the summary while the police investigation progresses.
