Last August, actress Mónica Pont and her son Javier, 20, lived one of the most terrifying moments of their lives. Returning to their home, in Mexico City, they were robbed at gunpoint when they were about to get into the elevator.

The actress herself recounted what the shocking event had been like on her Instagram account. A moment that they have not been able to forget, but in which the protagonist of Luis Miguel, the series, has not stopped working until the case has been resolved. So much so that she got to work herself and, thanks to her good work, she was able to stop one of the thieves who attacked her.

She herself has revealed this in an interview with Pronto magazine, in which she celebrates the arrest of the thieves, although they have not recovered the stolen belongings – among other things, two watches valued at more than 60,000 euros -, which Pont supposes the criminals will have already sold on the black market.

Their role in these arrests was essential, and if it were not for their efforts, they would probably still be waiting for the authorities to do something about it. “I actively collaborated to discover the first of the thieves and by pulling the thread the others fell,” confesses the actress.

According to her, the Prosecutor’s Office in charge of the case “did nothing”, so she made the decision to see the owner, Ernestina Godoy. It was to her that he gave all the documentation of the police investigation, and how the gear that would lead to the arrest of the first of the thieves was set in motion.

A decisive step, since in this way the criminals, belonging to an organized gang known to the security forces in Mexico, could be arrested. A group that operates mainly in places with an abundance of tourists, such as the airport or stations, in order to steal luxury items.

In the case of the actress and her son, they already suspected that someone was following them from the airport before they were attacked. Once in her building, her worst suspicions were confirmed. “One of them put his foot down and pointed it at our heads saying that we had to give him the watches, and at that moment, unfortunately, Manuel, my goalkeeper, wanted to protect us in a heroic act and pounced on the robber.”

The goalkeeper was injured, as one of the attackers shot him in the leg. “Without blinking or hesitation he shot him, pierced his femoral artery and then he fell unconscious and began to bleed,” he recalled in August, when he recounted what happened in Espejo Público.

With her testimony, the actress wanted to help many others in the same situation. Without going any further, just a few days later, Miguel Bosé reported having experienced a similar event in his residence in Mexico City.
