Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) recorded a record January, adding 56.1 million trips, with an increase of 10.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and exceeding by 6% the historical maximum, which occurred in January 2019.
The figures show a recovery in the case of the bus, with an increase of 16% compared to the previous year, registering 18 million validations. In the last six months, pre-pandemic figures have been surpassed, with an increase of 1.9%.
In the case of the metro, 38.1 million validations have been counted, which represents an increase of 8.5% compared to 2023 and 8.2% more than in 2019.
Beyond the effect that the bonuses on transport tickets are having on the increase in the number of passengers, the president of TMB, Laia Bonet, justifies the increase in bus users by the improvements of this service, including the purchase of vehicles of hydrogen.
