Alicia Conesa from Murcia, promoter of the solidarity hat movement against cancer, died this Tuesday at the age of 34 after a tough battle against this disease, as confirmed on her social networks by the mayor of Molina de Segura, José Ángel Alfonso Hernández. .
“We have received the sad news of the death of Alicia Conesa, a 34-year-old resident of Torrealta who has been an example of strength, until the end, in her fight against cancer,” explained the councilor.
In his farewell, Hernández recognized the work of Conesa, who promoted the movement of solidarity hats against cancer. An initiative that took shape with the celebration last January of the First Solidarity Hat Gala, in which funds were raised for research into this disease.
The young woman from Murcia, along with other women, sewed and put crochet hats for sale to raise funds. As she explained to local media, she could not be more satisfied with the support provided to her cause.
The young woman’s life changed in 2022, when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Conesa, who since then battled the disease, found refuge in literature. She wrote All With Me, a non-fiction book and almost a manual on how to live with cancer, which also helped her raise funds for research into this type of tumor.
According to the newspaper La Verdad, this movement to help Alicia Conesa raised more than eight thousand euros in crochet hats in four months.
