Vito Roque has only been a Barça player for a month and has already experienced good and bad moments defending the Blaugrana shirt, in addition to noticing in a short time the greatness and demands of the club. The upside is his two goals, the first of which gave his team the victory against Osasuna, while the tail is his controversial and “unfair” expulsion against Alavés.
“I think the yellow card was unfair, at least the second one,” explained the Brazilian in an interview for Mundo Deportivo, where he also reveals part of his conversation with the match referee, Martínez Munuera: “He told me, ‘it’s not the case here. like in Brazil.’ He said that, that this is not like Brazil, that it was not a fault on the part of the defender and I simply respected the decision and left the field.”
However, the forward has a different vision of the play. “At first I didn’t understand (the decision), it was a play in which the defender came at me with his foot in front and when I saw him I tried to turn my foot so as not to hit him and not get injured. But the player started to shout and the referee told me. Show me the yellow one,” he said.
The young striker, 18, dreams of “winning the Champions League” with Barça, “the biggest club in the world”, and explains that he has been welcomed with open arms in the Barça dressing room, especially his compatriot Raphinha, Araújo , João Félix and Cancelo. “I’m trying to learn as much as possible with the players on the field and in the locker room and this is making it easier for me to adapt,” said Roque, who pays special attention to Lewandowski, a mirror in which to look at himself to continue progressing.
“He is an incredible player, like everyone in the locker room, he is a player who has made history in football. I try to learn as much as possible from him, he always has the will to work, when the training ends I go with him and I try to continue their steps to learn as much as possible,” said the Pole.
Despite his great resume, Lewandowski received criticism this season for his scoring drought for much of the season, a recurring problem for the center forward that the Brazilian also suffered in his first appearances with Barça. “I stayed calm, and I knew that I had no choice but to work, work and work to adapt as much as possible as quickly as possible,” explained Roque, who is physically at “70-75%” after arriving at Barça after being two months injured and another month of vacation.
