If there is a most established couple in the world of acting in our country, it is the one made up of Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, known as the Javis. Both have been together for more than a decade, and it is very common to see them posing in photocalls in our country. They will also do so at the 38th edition of the Goya Awards, which will be held on the night of this Saturday, February 10, since both will act as hosts of the gala together with Ana Belén. The Javis are two regulars at these types of events, but what exists behind these two celebrities?

As we said, the couple formed by filmmakers, scriptwriters and writers is one of the most respected and influential in Spain. Both have formed a great team, not only sentimentally, but also professionally. They both began their love story almost 14 years ago and, although they currently form the perfect duo, each one has their own story.

On the one hand, there is Francisco Javier Calvo Guirao, known for his role as Fer in the legendary Spanish series Physics or Chemistry, where he shared a cast with prominent faces in cinema such as Úrsula Corberó, Maxi Iglesias or Angy, among many others. It was at the age of eleven when he entered the world of acting. At that age, his relationship with his father was not easy. “My father was very serious, very demanding. He has changed a lot and our relationship has taken a very beautiful path,” he revealed in Planeta Calleja in 2018.

At school, Javi also experienced a difficult time due to his sexual orientation. “I have had a bad time at my school. I have felt rejected, I have wanted to be preferred by one of my friends, I have wanted… and I have not had it. I have not been the coolest at school. I have had a boy in class “That when I passed by the hallway, every day he religiously told me: Bald, faggot! Every day,” he explained in an interview with Risto Mejide. Despite everything, he became one of the most successful performers in our country.

Javier Ambrossi, for his part, is known for directing the series Paquita Salas and La Veneno and for being the older brother of actress Macarena García. He, for his part, studied Journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid and Dramaturgy at the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Art (RESAD). His childhood and adolescence were not easy at all. “I grew up in a traditional family and in an Opus Dei school, with only boys. It was difficult for me,” he confessed during the H campaign.

He, from the same partner as his partner, also suffered bullying at school. “Suddenly a dictionary has been thrown at me in the middle of class, or the whole class has agreed to hit me when I was leaving through a door. I didn’t feel like going to school because you know they are going to hurt you,” he explained. . “Many people in the group carry things from our childhood into adulthood. I am the first. Sometimes I surprise myself, feeling ashamed of myself or being afraid. And I am almost 40 years old,” he revealed.

Regarding their love story, Javier Calvo was 18 years old when he met Ambrossi, who is seven years older than him. They met through social networks, although they began as friends. “I felt something, but I also felt that he was very small,” Ambrossi explained on Emilio Aragón’s program. “I said: ‘How am I going to get in there, with a boy so young who has had no experiences. I’m going to disappoint him,’ he explained. Finally, they began a romantic relationship.

As their relationship stabilized, they began working together on various professional projects. From their union came the legendary series Paquita Salas, and later they made the leap to cinema with the acclaimed film La Llamada, in 2017. Both have managed to be one of the most influential duos in the industry of our country since then.
