I share in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos this series of photographs taken at midday, when I was taking a routine walk along the banks of the Llobregat River, near Abrera.

The title could be Slow Walk. The images of the Llobregat as it passes through Abrera place us together with Can Bros, an abandoned textile colony, which is in the municipality of Martorell.

We also see some birds that peacefully spend the afternoon. I hope that the photographs convey the calm that I felt when walking through this place.

Of the architectural complex of Can Bros, the factory, the homes, the Elias house tower and the church stand out. Its origin dates back to an agricultural property that, at the beginning of the 19th century, incorporated waterfalls to operate various industries (paper mill, sawmill and yarn factory).

From 1852 onwards it became a colony when the new owners built the new textile factory and housing and services for the workers, as was the model of the time for this type of facility that took advantage of the water of the Llobregat.
