Inés Hernand has become one of the main protagonists of the latest edition of the Goya Awards held last Saturday, February 10, in Valladolid. The content creator was broadcasting the awards red carpet live through PlayZ, on RTVE Play. Everything went completely normally until the influencer ran into the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, on the red carpet.
Hernand approached the leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) and asked him about the last film he had seen and his opinion on the Oscar nominee and big winner of the night, The Snow Society, by Juan Antonio Bayona. After ensuring that she had loved the film, Inés Hernand said the following: ”You are an icon, president, we love you.”
However, the content creator’s words were not well received on social networks, triggering a barrage of criticism from numerous users. But it seems that Inés Hernand’s statements have not gone down well within the public corporation either, which this same Monday issued a statement in which they regretted, without naming names, the behavior of the ”external collaborator” during the live broadcast.
”As much as we want to give a lighthearted, alternative tone and designed for a youth audience, we believe that any content that carries the RTVE brand must comply with quality and neutrality standards,” they expressed in the statement.
The council also wanted to point out ”other more than debatable interventions” that the influencer had throughout the red carpet, such as ”belching, complaints, swear words without context”. Regarding the meeting with the President of the Government, the public corporation assured that “the flattering tone towards a President of the Government, whatever the sign, has no place on public radio and television, which is everyone’s.”
After all the media commotion that has been generated around her public figure, the presenter of I don’t know what you’re talking about wanted to speak out through her social networks with a strong message. ”I am dedicated to entertainment and honestly, I am glad to be fulfilling my role,” declared the content creator.
