After almost a year away from the public spotlight due to his illness, the producer and screenwriter Luis Canut has reappeared with his wife, the presenter Patricia Pérez. He did it through the Galician Instagram account, in a video in which the producer, very changed, wanted to explain all the details of his cryptococcal meningitis and the consequences that he still suffers from.
Canut wanted to thank his followers for having supported him, but also his wife, for having “saved” him. The producer shared with his followers how he is feeling after having spent almost a year and a half of doctors, treatments and rehabilitation.
“It’s been a long time, it’s true,” reflected Canut, who continues to go through difficulties regarding the functioning of all his senses and at a cognitive level, among other things. Now, he is making some enormous progress in his recovery.
With his wife by his side, Canut lists everything that is happening: “I have been in rehabilitation for six months, plus the five in the hospital… And I think I’m doing very well.” A process that has changed his life, as the producer acknowledges.
“What limits me the most is my sight. Not seeing is what complicates me the most,” he explains, although he confesses that he is making great progress in that sense, since they have already given him resources to be able to move around the street calmly. When he looks in the mirror, he sees silhouettes, but not his own features or details.
The producer confesses that he has no sense of taste, to which Patricia Pérez tries to add a touch of humor: “Better, because I cook.”
Canut reveals that he has no sense of smell, and barely has hearing. “Besides, it’s a very strange hearing, I have a very loud ringing in my left ear,” confesses the screenwriter. “My right ear is very blocked. It also depends a lot on the day.”
The presenter reminds her of her husband, who has no memories, as he has lost his memory; that she has had to spend several months regaining her weight and muscles. Canut has had to make real efforts to achieve stability. “The hardest thing,” she considers.
“I lost 18 kilos, which I didn’t have. It was what led me to the wheelchair,” he explains. “But I’m happy, with the diet you put me on I feel better,” he tells his wife.
Now, Canut is focused on his rehabilitation, although he recognizes that there were times when he had a really bad time. According to his wife, what he has not changed is the way he speaks or writes. “I’m there for this. I’m very good, I’m very happy.”
The producer took the opportunity to thank his wife, to whom he dedicated some nice words. “You saved my life from the first moment I got sick, because it was very complicated,” he confides, “It is a very complicated disease and you insisted a lot, you fought a lot to get me a good diagnosis so they could start treating it.” . he says, sealing her dedication with a kiss between them.
“Today, thank God, I’m fine. Above all, what I’m in. I’m not going to stop. I’m going to continue,” he says. “There are times when life stops you, but I’m not going to stop. I’m not going to stop because of these situations. I’m going to continue. I think I’ll see better each time, and if not, then look.”
