A 37-year-old man was seriously injured yesterday after receiving four stab wounds, three of them in the abdomen, in the Madrid district of Tetuán.

The attack took place after four twenty in the afternoon in the Plaza de la Remonta, Emergencies Madrid reported.

The victim, a Spanish national, had four stab wounds, three in the abdomen and one in the face, but has remained conscious at all times.

The Samur-Civil Protection paramedics treated him and transferred him with advance notice to the La Paz hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition, although his life is not in danger, according to Madrid Emergency sources.

The National Police has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the attack.

According to police sources, the investigators’ main hypothesis is that the stabbing was caused by a dispute related to drug retailing, although they do not rule out other reasons.

Now, the investigation focuses on locating the alleged aggressor, who fled the scene after the attack.
