The FeSMC UGT union has reported a new attack on a security worker, who had part of his ear bitten off when he was trying to prevent a robbery at the Primark store in the Berceo Shopping Center (LogroƱo).

According to the organization, this latest event took place around 6:30 p.m. last Friday afternoon, when the security guard, from the Prosegur company, detected that a middle-aged man was trying to steal several items of clothing from the store.

After an unsuccessful attempt to pay for these clothes with an invalid card, the security guard realized that, along with the Primark clothes, the subject was carrying several more clothes from other stores in the Berceo Shopping Center. And he notified the National Police.

According to the union, the individual became nervous and tried to flee, “struggling with the guard, whom he bit on the ear, tearing off part of it.” Despite the attack, “the security guard managed to subdue the subject and put him at the disposal of the State Security Forces and Corps.”

Given this event, the union has once again regretted “the situation of lack of legal protection in the private security sector after a new attack on a security guard.”

FeSMC UGT criticizes “the situation in which the workers of the sector find themselves, the example of which was evident, once again, this weekend, in the aggression suffered.” In addition, they ask for “sufficient human resources in the work centers and adequate self-protection material for security guards.”
