Karlotta, the storm responsible for the latest rains, has managed to increase the reserves of the Andalusian swamps in what has been the largest weekly increase in water since December 2022 in the region. The data indicate that the reservoirs are at 23.35% of their capacity thanks to the 191 cubic hectometers of water that have accumulated.
According to the report on the latest episode of rainfall in the intra-community basins and the evolution of the drought situation in Andalusia, which the Andalusian Government Council analyzed this Tuesday, the rainfall has taken place, mainly, in the provinces of Huelva and Cádiz. .
Significant rainfall has also been recorded in the Guadiaro River basin, in the province of Malaga. The 358 liters per square meter (l/m²) recorded in Grazalema (Cádiz) stand out, with rainfall between 100 and 150 l/m² having occurred in a total of ten meteorological stations in the three provinces.
The rainfall has led to an increase in the reservoir reserves of 21 cubic hectometers in the province of Huelva and 19.7 in the reservoirs of the province of Cádiz.
In the province of Malaga, the increase in reserves in dams has been 1.1 hm³, while, in the province of Granada, the increase in reservoir volume has barely reached 0.6 hm³. In the province of Almería, no contributions to the reservoirs from rainfall have been recorded.
After the latest rains, the Andalusian reservoirs store 2,794 hm³ and are at 23.35% of their total storage capacity, experiencing an increase of 191 hm³ (1.60%) in the last week.
Compared to the records from a year ago, this volume of impounded water represents a reduction of 785 hm³.
By basin, the Guadalquivir basin reaches 1,869 hm³ (23.28% of its total capacity) adding 149 hm³ (1.86%). Compared to the same week in 2023, this amount represents 188 hm³ of water less.
In the case of the Andalusian Mediterranean Basins, the volume of resources increases to 217 hm³ (18.78%) after an increase of 4 hm³ (0.35%). This total amount represents 234 hm³ less than a year ago.
In the Guadalete-Barbate district, for its part, an increase of 17 hm³ (1.03%) is recorded to 257 hm³ (15.53%), so a reduction of 240 hm³ is observed compared to water. of the Cadiz reservoirs on the same dates in 2023.
The Tinto-Odiel-Piedras-Chanza basin is at 40.45% of its capacity, having 451 hm³ of impounded water. These resources represent an increase in one week of 21 hm3 (1.88%).
Just a year ago there were 123 hm³ more than today, with stored resources of 574 hm³.
