I captured this image for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos last Sunday, February 11 after sunset. These are the technical specifications: 404 photographs: f: 2.2, shutter 20″, ISO 1600, focal length 9mm.
I am aware of the drought we are suffering. I felt it there, photographing the millions of stars over the Sau reservoir on a wonderful night and seeing how these tree trunks, for example, should be submerged under many liters of water.
With this image, in short, the disbelief and magnitude of the disaster of the persistent drought that we are suffering in Catalonia is revealed. It is very sad!
Circumpolar or startrails (star trails) are a type of photography that uses long exposure times to capture the apparent movement of stars in the night sky due to the Earth’s rotation.
At this time, the water level in the Sau reservoir is at a historic low of 2.91% of its capacity, when last year at this time it was at 17.69% and the average for the last five years had been at 106%.
