Personal Aptitude Tests will no longer be a requirement for those students who want to take the Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFyD) or the Double Degree in Physiotherapy and CAFE at the TecnoCampus.
The center, attached to the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), will apply this change in criteria in the admission requirements starting in the next academic year.
For many years, the PAP consisted of a series of physical tests that determined whether the candidate was suitable or not to apply for the Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. Specifically, the PAPs that were carried out included an aquatic environment test, two strength tests and the Luc Léger or course navette test.
TecnoCampus has worked on the elimination of these tests for several months, and finally their elimination as an admission requirement has been achieved. As a center committed to equal opportunities for all applicants, the center considers that the only admission criterion should be based on the grades obtained in previous studies.
As the coordinator of the Degree at CAFE, Lluís Albesa, explains, these tests “have a very practical component” which, however, “does not later have transfer in the studies.” This is especially significant among students who have a research or management profile, and for many of them these tests “could be limiting.”
Albesa also highlights that at the TecnoCampus, when PAP tests were stopped during the pandemic, women’s registrations went from 10% to 38%.
The degree coordinator explains that PAP tests were currently only carried out in four university centers in Catalonia, many of which have already eliminated them or are in the process of doing so.
This modification in admission requirements reflects TecnoCampus’ commitment to equity and academic excellence, facilitating access to higher education for those who wish to embark on a university degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences.
