In La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos we can admire the beautiful combination of almond trees and vineyards in the winter landscape of Penedès.
At this time of year, these cultivated areas acquire a special attraction because, on the one hand, we can contemplate the trees in bloom and, on the other, the completely bare vineyards.
The snapshots show us almond trees and vineyards in Sant Pau d’Ordal, in the municipality of Subirats, and in the surroundings of Vilafranca del Penedès, in the Alt Penedès region.
The vineyard landscape benefits from the fact that almond trees bloom long before other fruit trees, which usually wait for the arrival of spring. It can be said that winter is like spring for almond trees.
The flowering of almond trees generally occurs around the months of February and March, but it is increasingly observed that it occurs in mid or late January, as has also happened this year.
