As tradition dictates, on the first Monday in May the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will host the Met Gala. It will be next May 6 when the most prominent celebrities from the film, fashion or music industries, as well as social networks, will walk the most anticipated red carpet of the year.

This week more details of this spectacular event have been revealed, which will feature Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. These have been the celebrities chosen to serve as hosts of this edition, which will have Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, and Shou Zi Chew, executive director of TikTok, as honorary presidents.

It should be noted that of the hosts, Jennifer Lopez is the one who has stepped on the museum’s iconic staircase the most times; in fact, she has attended more than a dozen galas. Zendaya has not missed several of the editions either and has always impressed with her styling. In fact, one of her most memorable looks was the Cinderella-inspired dress by Tommy Hilfiger that lit up on the red carpet.

As for Bad Bunny, the singer debuted at the gala last year in a white Jacquemus suit that he wore with an eight-meter long floral train. For his part, this will be Chris Hemsworth’s first time at this event and it is expected that his wife, the Spanish Elsa Pataky, will accompany him.

This 2024 the exhibition will be titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion and the dress code that Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, has chosen for the occasion is The Garden of Time. A theme that promises to fill the museum’s stairs with flowers and very romantic designs.

“It’s basically an ode to nature,” said Andrew Bolton, chief curator of the Costume Institute, adding that this year’s goal is to address sustainability. “Nature as a metaphor for fashion, its fragility and transience,” he noted.
