“They must be allowed to return to the north, to the middle of the Strip, not to Egypt. They must be able to return home, to their cities of origin,” stressed the Palestinian prime minister.
Shtayeh insisted that he wants to see an end to “the atrocities, the release of all hostages and an immediate agreement” to end the war, because any delay in a solution means “more killings”, more suffering and “more disaster.” .
He stressed that “when we call for a ceasefire we mean it,” he stressed, and stressed that they are in contact with all the important actors interested in finding a solution, including Qatar, the United States, Egypt and European countries.
The Palestinian prime minister mentioned that an agreement with Hamas for Palestinian unity would be possible, but as long as they follow the principles of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which are “very clear.”
“If Hamas is willing to seek a common phase with us, we are willing. If it is not, it is another story. But we need Palestinian unity,” he said in a panel at the Munich Security Conference on the future of relations between Israel and Palestine.
Shtayeh recalled Russia’s invitation to an upcoming meeting of all Palestinian groups where talks could take place.
