The grandfather of the boys who barricaded himself in his house in Huétor Tájar, in Granada, with a firearm last Sunday, murdered one of his grandchildren with a shot in the back and suffocated the other. These are the conclusions of the preliminary autopsy report that has been released, although the final report and the toxicological report are still pending.

The bodies of the minors, aged 10 and 12, were found by the Special Intervention Unit of the Civil Guard around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, when they entered the house after the aggressor, aged 72, cut the communication with the body negotiator around 5:00 in the morning. The man reportedly warned that he had to prepare his grandchildren to attend school, however for several hours no movement was detected inside the house. At the moment the agents entered the house, the attacker shot himself to death with his 12-gauge shotgun, for which he had a license.

The investigation into the events remains open, and the Civil Guard is considering the possibility that the grandfather had committed the crime during the late Sunday night, when he barricaded himself in his home with both boys, although this must be corroborated by the autopsy. .

The preliminary result is known just after the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Loja agreed this Tuesday to declare the investigation into these events secret for a month.

It should be remembered that the crime took place on May 19, just two months after the aggressor and grandfather of the boys lost his wife and his daughter, the mother of the minors, in a car accident that he was driving. . Apparently, the man had fainted and went off the road, causing the fatal accident. Since then, the grandfather was going through a difficult time that would have led him to lose his balance acting in this cruel way.
