The Mallorcan actress Vicky Luengo was proclaimed this Tuesday the Princess of Girona Art 2024 award in an event chaired by Queen Letizia that was held in Salamanca as part of the Talent Tour 2024 activities, organized by the Princess of Girona Foundation. The award recognizes the “naturalness”, “love for her craft” and “ability to inspire new generations of artists” of the actress who now wants to be known as Victoria Luengo.
After learning of the ruling, Luengo (Palma, 1990) said: “I am very excited. Normally they give you an award for a job, but it had never happened to me that they gave me an award for the way I feel about this job.” In her presentation as a nominee, Victoria Luengo, who is about to premiere the series Reina Roja, recalled: “I have been an actress since I was 15 years old, I am passionate about being an actress, it is my vocation and dream, and I can say that I have achieved it “, celebrated the interpreter, who told how she told her mother that she would achieve it, but in her own way.
Victoria Luengo has alternated between film, theater and television since she began working as an actress at the age of 15. She was nominated for the Goya for best leading actress for the film Suro, a role for which she received the Gaudí Award, for which she was also nominated for her work in the film Chavalas, for which she obtained the Ojo Award. On television, her participation in the series Antiriot stands out, where she played agent Laia Urquijo. For that character she was nominated for numerous awards and she won, among others, the Fotogramas Award for best television actress and the Ondas Award for best female performer in fiction.
In theater, among the 19 professional productions in which she has participated, highlights are her performance in El Golem (Godot Award for best actress), Una perra en un descampado (Critics’ Award) and Prima Facie, a monologue that she has performed in a tour throughout Spain.
The Princess of Girona Arte 2024 award distinguishes young people who work in any discipline of arts and literature (cinema, theater, dance, gastronomy, music, photography, painting, video, architecture, fashion, sculpture, literature, design and other manifestations artistic). The creative, unique and original character of the candidate is especially valued.
In this edition, more than one hundred candidates have submitted for the award, from which the five finalists emerged who met in Salamanca this Tuesday and explained their projects. Together with Vicky Later, the Catalan dancer Yoel Ferré Vargas (Tarragona, 2003), trained at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, ??was a finalist; the architect Anna Nevis (Valencia, 1990); the also architect Raúl Almenara (Córdoba, 1990), and the popularizer and chef Carlos Casillas (Ávila, 1999), trained at the Basque Culinary Center where he achieved the best record in his promotion.
Before proceeding to the announcement of the Princess of Girona Art 2024 award, the Princess of Girona CongresFest meeting took place, in which hundreds of young people attended inspiring talks, discussions and live music.
The winners Guillermo García and Andrés Salado – Princess of Girona Art Award 2021 and 2017 respectively – shared with all the young attendees how through art and culture social issues can be addressed and actions with an impact on society can be carried out.
Silvia Fernández Cadevall, founder of Palliative Art, a foundation that reduces the emotional pain of people with advanced illnesses through artistic expression workshops, and Princess of Girona Social Award 2023, focused the discussion together with Carolina Amado, president of the Charity Association Anita, who helps improve the care and quality of life of children and adolescents with cancer, and who will explain how writing songs helped her get ahead.
The Princesa de Girona CongresFest has also served as the setting for the presentation of Generación Arte, the new project promoted by the Princess of Girona Foundation with the collaboration of the Teatro Real, EY and Secuoya. This initiative was born to promote the career of emerging artists with a purpose who want to use music as a tool to improve the world and promote values. The 17 artists, between 20 and 32 years old, who participate in the first edition of this project will take the stage of the Princesa de Girona CongresFest to join their voices and perform a song with a message to the public.
The 2024 Talent Tour in Salamanca will run until Friday, February 23, with more than 40 activities aimed at improving the employability of young people, which will be held in different spaces in the city. The first stage of the Tour took place in Lleida on January 19 and during its celebration the Princess of Girona Crea Empresa 2024 award was announced, which went to the architect and businessman Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros. The next stop will be held in Cádiz, between March 18 and 22 and will then take place in Santander, from April 22 to 26 and in Madrid, between May 8 and 9.
