The European Union approved this Wednesday its thirteenth package of sanctions against Russia, as reported on the X (formerly Twitter) account of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, which described the package as “one of the broadest approved by the EU”.

The new package, formally approved for the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, will include nearly 200 entities and individuals on the list, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, it will limit EU companies’ trade with three mainland Chinese companies that supply the Russian military and blacklist the North Korean Defense Minister for sending missiles to Moscow.

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has not hesitated to celebrate this measure. “I welcome the agreement on our 13th sanctions package against Russia.” We must continue to degrade Putin’s war machine. “With a total of 2,000 listings, we keep the pressure on the Kremlin high,” Von der Leyen wrote, in X.

In addition, he has indicated that everything possible is being done to limit drone access to Russia, in reference to the blacklisting of companies that supply Russia with drones that are used in the aggression against Ukraine.
