Barça futsal team was eliminated from the Copa del Rey this Tuesday after succumbing to Peñíscola in the quarterfinals. Jesús Velasco’s team had the game in their hands, as they won 2-3 with a minute left, but the Castellón players scored two agonizing goals, especially the last one, one second from the end, to achieve the final 4-3 .

The Barça team has already experienced firsthand how complex it is to win at the Juan Vizcarro. A little over a month ago, before the break for the Copa América, FC Barcelona dropped two points in their league visit to Peñíscola, although in that case it was the Catalan team that scored in the final moments.

The Castellón players began the match more intensely, threatening Freixas, who saved a point-blank shot from Juanqui, hero of the match with a hat-trick. Pani also had one, but his shot hit the wood. Barça suffered and was not able to establish its game against a Peñíscola team that had grown thanks to the push of its fans.

Even though FC Barcelona was disconnected from the match, the first goal that got on the scoreboard was from the Catalan team. Sergio González took advantage of an error to, alone against Starna, place the ball into the top corner. The joy could have lasted a few seconds for the Barça team, since Saladie equalized as soon as he took the cross. However, the referees annulled it because they called a previous foul by Erick without granting the advantage law. An error that the referee acknowledged by asking for forgiveness and that did not stop the team led by Santi Valladares, who tied before the break (1-1).

After going through the locker room, Barça came out better and Sergio González made it 1-2 after a good combination between Erick and Coelho. In those periods of Barça dominance, Jesús Velasco’s team was unable to increase the lead, and Diego, who had already threatened FC Barcelona with a backheel against the post, scored the equalizer in the subsequent play.

With six minutes left, in the 34th minute, “el Búfalo” showed that he has not lost his scoring instinct, despite having been off the field for ten months, making it 2-3. The people from Castellón, touched by Lozano’s goal, were unable to bother the Barça goal. However, an error in getting the ball out of Freixas allowed Juanqui to score 3-3 with one minute remaining. Everything seemed destined for extra time, but in the final play, Peñíscola chose to take a throw-in directly into the area. After a rebound, Juanqui achieved the final 4-3 with only one second left in the match, causing madness in the stands and the elimination of the current champion.
