For three days, these students developed innovative proposals in the field of smart tourism to apply in the city of Mataró and the Maresme region. As explained by Dr. Jordi Ojeda, professor in the Department of Technology at Tecnocampus and responsible for organizing the operations of the

In this edition, the

Ojeda explains that the group of mentors asked the students to focus on three fundamental aspects in this area. One of them is the impact that climate change will have on the way we do tourism, taking into account issues such as increased temperatures and heat. They were also asked to value local tourism and tourism throughout the year. Finally, another aspect that was taken into account was the possibilities of technology to propose innovative and original ideas.

In total, two prizes were awarded, one in the category of university or higher-level training cycle teams and another for middle-grade or high school training cycle teams.

The first, with a prize of 2,000 euros and direct access to the TecnoCampus pre-incubation program, was for the Activytrip project. This is an application designed to transform tourism and local culture in Catalonia, which wants to facilitate the connection between tourists and residents through authentic and enriching experiences.

Activytrip’s goal is to boost local tourism, while increasing tourist spending and encouraging community participation. To do this, an effective tool was thought of so that town councils can promote their cultural attractions and activities. The winning team was made up of Bryan Guananga Morales, Cristina de Iglesia Carlos, Juan Jesús Ramírez Pérez, Pol Riba Villegas and Roger Vidal Masó, all of them students from different degrees at Tecnocampus.

The prize in the category of intermediate or high school training cycle teams, valued at 1,000 euros, went to the first year high school group formed by Àlex López Alpáñez, Àlex Terol Ballester, Andreas-Zander Bassas Tiffon, Jana Gallarin Moore and Oleg Konikevich.

This team proposed a web and mobile application that created a community with people with diverse physical disabilities, so that users of the app could recommend and give their opinion on itineraries and destinations and could also act in a network to host or care, etc. Their idea is based on the fact that people with disabilities know better than anyone the barriers you may encounter and can give first-hand advice and recommendations. “I think it’s a great idea because of its originality, and also because it confirms the values ??of young people, concerned about providing solutions to these challenges,” Ojeda says.

The Councilor for Education and Work of the Mataró City Council, Miquel Àngel Vadell, and the academic director of TecnoCampus, Dr. Elisa Sayrol, were in charge of delivering the awards and diplomas to the participants. Vadell highlighted the importance of technological research and its application in society as well as the commitment of the organizing entities to the generation of knowledge and the promotion of the innovative spirit in youth.
