Penélope Cruz is one of the great actresses of our country. Her successful career in the world of acting has led the Madrid native to conquer everything she sets her mind to and participate in major international productions. And although we are used to seeing her face on the big screen, Mónica Cruz’s sister also performs wonderfully in small audiovisual projects.
The Oscar-winning actress is the main protagonist of the video clip for Residente’s new song, 313. A song that will be included in the Puerto Rican rapper’s new album, The lyrics no longer matter, which will be released this coming February 22. An album that will be a great turning point in the career of the artist, who has not released a new album for more than six years.
313 is one of the Puerto Rican rapper’s most personal and emotional songs, since it is dedicated to his great friend Valentina, a violinist who died some time ago and whom he wanted to pay tribute to in this six-minute song. In addition, the sister of the deceased, Silvia Pérez Cruz, also participates in the video clip as a violinist.
”Valentina, since you left I started seeing the number 313 everywhere: in the hotel rooms, on the telephone, on the clocks, in the microwave, in the addresses, everywhere. I didn’t know the number 313 was connected to you,’ the singer wrote on his social media.
The video clip was recorded entirely in the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, in Segovia, which this year celebrates its third centenary, and stars Penelope Cruz herself, who plays a kind of mythological figure in the forest that she recites during the beginning of the video a poetic narrative about the passage of time.
Additionally, during the video a group of ballet dancers appear floating in time through movements orchestrated by Brazilian choreographer Juliano Nunes. The different dancers move around Residente and Penélope Cruz and guide the story that represents the connection between life, living beings and time. After the release of the single, the rapper wanted to have a few words of gratitude for all those who had participated in the project.
”The song ‘313’ is out, the number that appeared to me everywhere for a whole year became a song. I directed this audio visual with my soul, guided by Valentina, and I was lucky enough to work with a team that put all their spirit into it. There are many people to thank. To Silvia for your voice full of light that embraces our spirit. To Penelope for your talent, your time and because from Jamón Jamón, Belle Epoque and Abre los ojos everyone on the planet is in love with you,’ she wrote on her Instagram profile.
