The Malaga Court has sentenced a man to ten years in prison for murdering his roommate by stabbing him four times with a knife. The detainee left the body in the house and it was found days later.
In addition to the prison sentence, the accused has been banned from contacting or approaching within 500 meters of the deceased’s brothers for 12 years. Likewise, he must pay 20,000 euros to each of them.
The crime happened in March 2022, when the victim decided to go live with the accused at the latter’s home in the Campanillas neighborhood, in Malaga. There is no exact date of the events, but it is known that it was towards the end of the month.
According to the sentence, while both were sleeping in one of the bedrooms, “for reasons that could not be specified” the accused “attacked him with a knife, stabbing him four times in the chest.” Likewise, it is proven, with the agreement of the defendant and his defense, that the detainee had “the clear intention to kill him, all of which were directed at vital organs, such as the heart.”
These stab wounds affected the sternum and the intercostal area, penetrating the thoracic cavity and “such injuries caused death due to hemorrhagic hypovolemic shock,” as the heart was directly affected.
The defendant did not move the victim’s body, “it remained in the room where he died,” and it was a neighbor who alerted the local police due to the strong smell caused by the decomposition of the body. Unable to access the home, firefighters went to the home to force the door.
It was just at that moment when “the accused opened, introducing two Local Police officers, who finally located the body of the other man in the aforementioned room in an advanced state of putrefaction.”
Finally, the accused “to avoid being discovered, left the victim in the room, bleeding to death, closing the doors and windows, to avoid being discovered and without the possibility of the victim being helped,” who was a person especially vulnerable due to his drug addiction.
