There is nothing left for the premiere of the Joker sequel, which they have titled Joker: Folie à Deux. A highly anticipated film, since its predecessor was one of the titles of 2019, with a brilliant review and several awards to its credit, including an Oscar for its protagonist, Joaquin Phoenix.
A film that grossed more than 1 billion at the international box office, so it is normal that all its fans are especially expectant with the return of the tormented Arthur Fleck. On this occasion, he is accompanied by an exceptional companion, Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga.
A film, which this time will be a musical, and which has gone from having a budget of 60 million in the original to 200 in this sequel, which Todd Phillips will also direct. A multimillion-dollar budget, of which a large part will go as salaries for its two protagonists.
According to Variety, Joaquin Phoenix will earn $20 million for playing the clown prince again, while Lady Gaga will earn $12 million for her role as Harley Quinn.
Warner has its sights set very high on this sequel, but not everyone has it, because musicals can be somewhat complicated at the box office. However, the first images that were leaked from the film, which began filming in December 2022, already left a good taste in the mouths of fans of the character.
The story will explore the dynamic between Arthur Fleck and Harleen Quinzel and will possibly focus part of their story on Arkham Asylum. In one of the scenes that were leaked a few months ago, several actors dressed as the Joker could even be seen, chasing Joaquin Phoenix’s character. One of them also looked suspiciously like Heath Ledger’s Joker.
From what is known, there have been many scenes that evoke other well-known films, so we will have to wait to see what surprises Batman’s archenemy has up his sleeve. Joining them are Brendan Gleeson, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Kenner, Jacob Lofland, Harry Lawtey and Catherine Keener, among others.
The film is expected to be released on October 4.
