The court has passed a sentence on Dani Alves and I will not be the one who, unlike his ex-teammate Gerard Piqué, considers that he should spend more years behind bars. Or rot for the rest of his days in a cell. case closed
As already happened with the conviction and imprisonment of Iñaki Urdangarin, one welcomes the justice of this country, so severely attacked day after day, day after day also in the media and the political sphere, from where the idea is conveyed that we are in the hands of some sinister, toga and capricious characters who do what they want.
Not so many years ago, I have the impression that Dani Alves would have gone unpunished, and even covered up from FC Barcelona itself and with the social complicity of everyone – maybe mine too. Here is an unquestionable merit of feminism. From so many women And above all those who, without boasting or boasting or profiting from the mentioned condition, made us see, little by little, so many male blunders, among which, of course, they never included considering that a rape is a detail.
Perhaps it is sexist to say – but I think of it this way – that many men have been the first to demand severity with those who abuse a woman and rape her, taking advantage, meanly, of her being drunk or things like that. We never needed a law that made things clear…
Neither fame nor money have saved the Barça footballer from this sentence and the status of a rapist that he earned that night of December 30, 2022 at the Sutton nightclub at the expense of a young woman who should not have to have ever been in a reserve given the footballer’s slobbery attitude. No one is saying that that permanence justifies the violation in the slightest, but the case should serve to warn about the “culture of the reserved”.
I do not have the legislative knowledge to comment on whether the years of the sentence are too few or too many. I hope the victim rebuilds his life, I celebrate that his identity has been preserved and I regret that Alves had another side apart from the cordial and sympathetic one he transmitted. And once he’s served his sentence, I want him to be a new man.
