Pablo Castellano has not only proven to be a formidable competitor, but has also offered a moment of profound humanity in The Challenge. After completing a demanding choreography on an inclined platform, the architect not only achieved a victory from a technical point of view, but also conquered the public by opening up about a very personal topic: the illness of María Pombo, his wife.

After receiving praise for his performance and becoming champion of the program for the first time – until now he was last in the classification -, Castellano had the opportunity to talk about the cause to which he had decided to donate his prize. At that time he chose the EME association, dedicated to the fight against multiple sclerosis, a disease that Sito, his mother-in-law, also suffers from.

Castellano, visibly excited about having won and having the opportunity to contribute to the fight against multiple sclerosis, spoke about his experience with the disease: “You know it is a multiple sclerosis association, my wife has it. Nowadays it is very controlled “It’s just that I get excited, it’s not for nothing. My mother-in-law also has it, which unfortunately is not so controlled.”

In addition, the contestant was able to receive the support of Pombo, who gave him some nice words of support after having had such a hard time during the rehearsals: “That’s great, gordi. You’ve worked really hard. You deserve it.”

María Pombo often shares with her followers how she is managing her multiple sclerosis, a disease that was diagnosed in 2020 while she was expecting her first child. In her own words, it’s something she thinks about every day. Sometimes she feels more overwhelmed, and other times, not so much.

It is a disease of the nervous system that damages the myelin sheath, which is the protective covering of nerve cells, affecting the brain and spinal cord. The influencer has noticed certain physical sensations, such as greater weight on her left side and a feeling of less strength, although she clarifies that she has not experienced any flare-ups and feels full of vitality, energy and strength. This positive attitude and the absence of more acute symptoms are encouraging signs.

In 2023 he received good news from his neurologist, who confirmed that there were no new lesions related to his multiple sclerosis. This type of medical check-up, which is usually carried out annually, is crucial to monitor the progression of the disease.

Multiple sclerosis also affects Sito, the influencer’s mother, diagnosed in 2000. Thanks to a documentary recorded by the family for Prime Video, it has been possible to see how the family adjusts their plans and activities so that the mother can enjoy to the maximum despite the limitations that the disease can impose.
