Four provinces (Tarragona, Girona, Castellón and Menorca) will be on yellow alert this Wednesday due to coastal phenomena and strong gusts of wind, which could be up to 80 kilometers per hour (km/h), according to the forecast of the State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet).
The coastal phenomena will leave waves of up to 3 meters in Menorca and Girona, while in Tarragona the coastal phenomena and wind gusts of up to 70 km/h will do so. According to the agency, the highest wind gusts will occur in Castellón (80 km/h).
The day will be marked by a humid flow from the north, which will affect the extreme north of the peninsula and will leave cloudy or overcast skies on the Cantabrian slope, upper Ebro, northern Iberia and the Pyrenees and probable precipitation in the eastern Cantabrian, Pyrenees and northern Galicia, and may be somewhat more abundant on the Cantabrian coast.
Lightly cloudy or clear skies will predominate in the rest of the Peninsula, although at the end of the day the skies will tend to become cloudy in the northwest quadrant and at first there will be low cloudiness in the Strait.
Maximum temperatures will tend to increase throughout the country, more markedly in the eastern half of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands. Huelva, Murcia, Ourense, Granada, Córdoba, Pontevedra and Seville will be above 20 degrees.
The minimum temperatures also rise, except in the extreme south of the peninsula and in the northeast. Even so, frosts are expected in the mountains of the northern half of the peninsula and its surroundings and in the southeastern mountains, without ruling out that they may occur in areas of the northern and northeastern plateau of Castilla-La Mancha, in a more isolated manner. They will be more intense in the Pyrenees, where it will snow.
For Thursday, a transition day is expected with weaker winds from the north and some showers in the afternoon around the Iberian system; Starting on Friday, although with some uncertainty, the most likely scenario foresees the arrival of fronts associated with storms to the peninsula, which will leave rain during that day and throughout the weekend.
