The Ministry of Transport has approved a project that has a budget of 3.8 million euros to improve circulation and road safety on the N-240 highway, between Lleida and Les Borges Blanques.
Specifically, the work will focus on improving intersections and reorganizing the accesses to the road as it passes through the areas of Torregrossa (Pla d’Urgell) and Juneda (Garrigues).
The Ministry wants to advance the project that contemplates converting three split roundabouts into circular ones at the access to the municipality of Les Garrigues, on the LV-2001 road towards Torregrossa and at kilometer 75 of the road. In parallel, side roads and a service road will be built.
On the stretch of action, the ministry is aware that the increase in traffic is incessant and there is a strong presence of vehicles for agricultural use, with numerous accesses to the farms on the corner of the road. The project aims to improve the fluidity of circulation and road safety by improving intersections and rearranging accesses.
The action is included within the maintenance program of the State Highway Network, in which the Ministry has invested more than 128 million euros since June 2018 in the Lleida district.
